πŸ“… Work Pattern: 5 days per week (including weekends on a rota basis)

Are you an experienced Grower Manager looking for an exciting opportunity in fresh produce and horticulture? Our client is seeking a passionate and hands-on leader to oversee crop production, ensuring efficiency, quality, and food safety while leading a dedicated team. Working closely with the Works Manager, Growing Consultant, and Operations Director, you'll play a key role in horticultural operations, ensuring crops are grown to the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

βœ” Crop Production & Planning

  • Manage and oversee the growing process to meet production targets.
  • Implement climate control and fertigation strategies to optimise yields.
  • Conduct crop walks, scouting for pests and diseases, and implement disease control measures.
  • Work closely with the Operations team to ensure growing houses are filled, transferred, and emptied efficiently.

βœ” Leadership & Team Development

  • Train and mentor the growing team on disease control, crop husbandry, and best practices.
  • Supervise and motivate staff to achieve growing KPIs.
  • Promote and enforce health & safety and food hygiene standards on-site.

βœ” Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Attend daily farm walks and weekly planning meetings with key stakeholders.
  • Report on KPI figures and implement improvements where necessary.
  • Support the harvesting team during peak seasons.
  • Enforce GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) and ensure compliance with food safety and industry regulations.

What You'll Need:

βœ… Essential:

  • Experience in growing, horticulture, or fresh produce farming.
  • Background in agriculture or a related field (Degree in Agriculture or Horticulture preferred).
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • IT proficiency, including MS Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure.

βœ… Desirable:

  • Food hygiene & HACCP qualification.
  • Experience in a chilled, fast-paced FMCG environment.
  • Knowledge of BRC standards and retailer audit protocols.
  • A sound understanding of Health & Safety legislation.
