Staffing Match are proud to be working in partnership with one of the UK's leading food manufacture company based in Bury, Manchester who are looking for QA technician to join their team!

The online QA Technician has a responsibility to ensure that quality, safety and legality of the product are achieved to the highest standards. This is achieved through various on-line checks. Non-conforming product is brought to the attention of the QA Supervisor so that a suitable course of corrective action can be implemented.

Your responsibilities as a Quality Controller:

  • To ensure Product micro samples are collected in accordance with the agreed sampling plan daily and ensuring the labelling & completing supporting documentation.

  • To assist in in carrying out daily taste panels when required ensuring the correct documentation is completed and any non-conforming product is brought to the attention of the QA Supervisory/Factory Technical Manager so a suitable course of action can be agreed and implemented.
  • To carry out routine metal detection checks as per procedure and completing the relevant process control documentation.
  • To carry out routine gas analysis as per procedure, ensuring gas levels are within specification & flagging up any out of spec results to the line leader so suitable course of action can be agreed.
  • To carry out daily calibration checks to set frequency for the only line check weighers to ensure they are operating correctly.
  • To check the correct online specifications are being used per line for the product being sliced.
  • To carry out quality attribute assessments on finished product to the defined attributes and a specified frequency.
  • To carry out daily chemical strengths checks and to report failures to the engineer or Supervisor.
  • To carry out label checks (Start Up & Product Changeover Line Check Record) as per procedure & specified frequency.
  • To monitor the control of trim produced and packed. Trim monitoring follows the same process as the other premium products produced on line.
  • To monitor, record and collate mean weight printouts, ensuring that mean weights are not below targets.
  • To continually monitor & implement good hygiene practice throughout the facility, ensuring any recurring failures are flagged up to QA Supervisor.
  • To ensure stocks of disposables are available & refilled during shift.
  • To carry out knife control as per procedure, removing damaged knives & documenting on relevant paperwork.
  • To carry out the refiling of paper towels, soap, sanitisers, hairnets, beard snoods, disposable chemicals. Interacting with your colleagues at all times.
  • To work in an Environmental and Energy efficient manner and to respect and honour the sentiment of the Company Policies and Principles.
  • Where there are any Environmental Permit conditions in place, to ensure that where you have direct influence on these areas, then these are adhered to within the required limits.
  • To work in partnership with the Senior Management team on site to be a part of the Culture of the site which drives Food Safety, H&S, Ethical, Environmental and Energy behaviours.

Shift patterns available and Pay Rates as a Quality Controller:

  • MONDAY - FRIDAY SHIFTS
  • 06:15 - 14:45 £10.80 p/h

  • 14:45 - 23:15 £11.75 p/h

Key attributes as a Quality Controller:

  • Group and Site Induction

  • Level 2 H&S awareness.
  • Understanding of relevant risk assessment and trained as competent to safe working procedures.
  • Understanding and application of hazard identification and near miss reporting.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • High level of literacy and numeracy skills, being able to produce clear and coherent paperwork required for production and technical standards.
  • Works to common goals/objective with peers
  • Ensures effective use of personal and team's time.
  • Able to foresee changes in demands and act accordingly.
  • Communicates effectively to all departments/stakeholders on or off shift.
  • Able to resolve matters quickly.
  • Maintain positive and productive relationships with team members and other departments/stakeholders.
  • Ensures the team are adequately trained and that personal and technical skills are developed.
  • Ability to understand both verbal and written instructions.
  • Able to read and write in English.
  • Keen eye for details.
