STAFFING MATCH attended #OrphanAID, the UK’s biggest ever Asian charity concert on Saturday 29th April. The event hosted by the Amir Khan Foundation in partnership with The Shilpa Shetty Foundation was a spectacular night of music with some of the biggest names in the urban Asian music industry from across the World, including the mainstream hip hop artist, Jay Sean.
#OrphanAID aims to raise both vital funds and awareness of the plight of orphans in South Asia. There are an estimated 60 million orphan children in South Asia with many the subject of child labour, sexual exploitation and abuse. Both Amir and Shilpa are committed to reaching out and supporting these orphans and will aim to raise funds to support projects in South Asia which will help take some of these children into care and off the streets.
Staffing Match, Directors and Co-Founders, Salman Iftekhar and Michael Gadsby supported the event and donated £10,000 to this worthy cause.
“#OrphanAID is an impeccable outreach programme supported by the Amir Khan & Shilpa Shetty Foundation. We need to support and reach out to charities which dedicate themselves in making the world a better place. Exploitation, child labour and abuse of any kind is appalling, and it saddens me to know that this is occurring across the globe.
Working in the recruitment industry, I am rigorous in ensuring that labour exploitation, slavery and abuse is eradicated. Working ethically is close to my heart, and I am glad that we have policies in place in the UK which are governed by bodies who have the power to close any business who doesn’t abide by the rules. Policies on Modern Day Slavery, Human Trafficking and general Ethical Trading are core principles within my business.
We hope at Staffing Match, that our contribution supports the Amir Khan and Shilpa Shetty Foundation organise a strategy which will aid the betterment of those orphans who are suffering from these heinous acts.”
